iXtreme 1.6 Firmware Released *Update* |
 |
Team Hyper X released version 1.6 of the iXtreme Firmware. The firmware is currently available for the Samsung, BenQ and LiteOn Xbox 360 DVD drives. After the release, there were reports of compatibility problems with some LiteOn drives and games that use the new Wave 3 video partition. A LiteOn repack / bugfix has since been released to correct this issue, anyone who downloaded the original LiteOn iXtreme 1.6 firmware file *should not* flash it and should get the repacked version instead. The Hitachi firmware is still being developed, and the ETA is unknown.
iXtreme 1.6 can be downloaded using Xbins.
A new version of JungleFlasher (v0.1.60) has also been released. JungleFlasher is a Windows application that can read and flash all Xbox 360 DVD drives with most SATA chipsets.
JungleFlasher can be downloaded here or here.
The tutorial for JungleFlasher has also been updated and can be downloaded here or here.
If you prefer using iPrep, there are updated definitions files to allow loading the iXtreme 1.6 firmware. There are updated definitions for iPrep versions 006.x and for iPrep version 008/009. You only need to download the definition file corresponding to your preferred version of iPrep. (The definition file for 008/009 will work with iPrep 008.8 , 008.9, and 009.0)
iPrep 006.x Definitions Update
iPrep 008/009 Definitions Update
Thanks goes out to Team Hyper X, Team Jungle, and everybody who made this possible.

iXtreme 1.51 Firmware and JungleFlasher 1.55 Beta for All Drives Released |
 |
Team Jungle and c4eva have released version 1.51 of the iXtreme Firmware - this time for all Xbox 360 DVD drives! This firmware update is required for newer games that are using a larger video partition. Two games that use this new partition are MLB 2K9 and Hawx. These games would not play on any of the iXtreme firmware versions prior to 1.51. Future games are almost guaranteed to use this larger video partition so you should update your firmware to be able to continue playing newer releases.
iXtreme 1.51 can be downloaded using Xbins.
A new version of JungleFlasher by Team Jungle coincided with the iXtreme update and has since been updated to version 0.1.55. JungleFlasher is a Windows application that can read and flash all Xbox 360 DVD drives on most SATA chipsets.
JungleFlasher can be downloaded here or here.
The tutorial for JungleFlasher has also been updated and can be downloaded here.
If you prefer using iPrep, there are updated definitions files to allow loading the iXtreme 1.51 firmware. There are updated definitions for iPrep versions 006.x and for iPrep version 008. You only need to download the definition file corresponding to your preferred version of iPrep.

Thanks goes out to Team Jungle and everybody who made this possible for the quick response.

iXtreme 1.51 / 1.6 Firmware For All 360 DVD Drives Coming Soon! |
 |
As some of you know by now, Microsoft has started including the NXE (Fall '08 Dashboard Update) on new game discs. They added this update into the video partition on the disc, which of course makes the partition larger than it always has been on older games. Previously there were 2 known good sizes for the video partition, they were known as "wave1" and "wave2". One of the security features in all iXtreme firmware from 1.0 to the current version 1.5 is a check on the size of the video partition to make sure it matches either wave1 or wave2. The firmware will not boot any game that does not match wave1 or wave2, this is done to prevent booting bad backups and getting banned on Live. Since these new games have a larger video partition that does not match either wave, they do not boot.
They are calling these new games with the larger video partition "wave3" and our hacked firmware will need to be updated to accept this new size as a good value. c4eva has already started working on this and the new firmware will be released for all drives shortly. This new firmware will be version 1.51 and will simply add support for the new video partition size so that backups of new games will boot. All drives will need to be updated to 1.51 in order to play backups of new games!
c4eva has also stated that he plans on releasing firmware with 0800 mode (for ripping original games) for every drive in the near future. This means that all 360 drives, including Hitachi, will then be able to be used to rip original 360 game discs. This will be a feature of iXtreme version 1.6 which will come after 1.51.
There is no ETA on either version but we're told it will not be long on 1.51 and work on 1.6 will resume after that!

iXtreme 1.5 Firmware for LiteOn, BenQ, and Samsung 360 DVD Drives |
 |
Team Jungle has released a new hacked firmware, iXtreme 1.5 for Samsung, BenQ, and LiteOn drives. It is the first firmware update in over a year for the Samsung and BenQ drives, and the very first hacked firmware for the previously unflashable LiteOn DG-16D2S. An iXtreme 1.5 version for Hitachi drive models is still in development and will be available in early 2009.
The Firmware can be downloaded from Xbins.
Along with this new firmware release are updates to tools and a completely new one. Firmtool has been updated to version 1.3.1, DVDKey32 has been updated to version 0.8.1, DosFlash has been updated to version 1.7, and an updated beta version of JungleFlasher has been released. This is a new GUI-based tool that aims to support flashing of all drives in Windows.
At this time, a RS232 to TTL serial circuit is still required to dump the drive keys from the LiteOn drive. This can be a homemade circuit using schematics online, or you can purchase commercial products like the Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3, or Maximus Xtractor 360. These products if purchased by themselves still require that the Tx pads on the LiteOn drive be bridged in order to work, so if you want a completely solderless solution, you should purchase an Xecuter CK v3 + CK3 Probe , or a Maximus Xtractor 360 + Spear.

A quick tutorial for flashing a LiteOn with JungleFlasher is quoted below:
| Quote: |
Instructions on flashing a LiteOn with JungleFlasher are as follows:
1: Hookup LiteON to sata port and power drive
2: In JungleFlasher select MTK Flash 32 Tab.
3: Select correct port (see above tutorials for figuring out the correct port)
4: Hit Lite-On-Erase button. NOTE - This is done AFTER you have already successfully transferred your inquiry.bin / identify.bin / key.bin files!!! Please read the Prompts VERY carefully! It is important to power cycle the drive at the correct moment to prevent your computer from freezing with VIA cards.
5: After power cycle, drive should return status 0x72 and display Flash information. If it does not, click Device ID and power cycle as prompted. If still not successful then you did not successfully erase the drive.
6: Once Flash information is displayed, you are ready to write! Go to firmware tool 32 tab and select "Load from dump files" and select your key/inquiry/identify .bin files. Then select ix15-liteon.bin after pressing "Open Target Firmware". Press "Spoof Source To Target". Then "Save to File" and save your CFW.bin.
7: Go back to MTK Flash 32 tab and select Write. It should automatically take the liteon firmware you loaded in the Firmware 32 tab and flash to the drive. It will automatically verify flash. If verified your done |
The Textbook tutorial will be updated eventually.

79 Unlock Tutorial |
 |
I have added the tutorial for using 79 Unlock to flash Hitachi ROM v0079FK and v0079FL drives to the downloads section of the site. You can download it here:
http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/details/id=88.html
or a direct link here:
http://www.360mods.net/tutorial/Podger.pdf
This will be included when the Textbook tutorial is updated, but because of the influx of people flashing 79 drives, I wanted to get this out as soon as possible. This will give me some more time to make other improvements to the Textbook tutorial.
