would you get banned if you play a legit game that you bought on a modded xbox? by suzuki125mx7 on Thursday, November 12, 2009 (04:54:41)

This actually got me really pissed, I bought yesterday CoDMW2, and I had on my xbox 1.6 on my BenQ, I had previously downloaded 1.61 for it(on this weekend), so I played MW2 all night online then today I decided I was going to update to 1.61.... by sendblink23 on Thursday, November 12, 2009 (22:27:02) dammit I SHOULD HAVE READ IN HERE FIRST BEFORE UPDATING ....after doing the update earlier today to my BenQ, I simply inserted again my game went into Online.. and .... My Console Got Banned *WTF* and its an actual game disc its not a burned copy, so I must say it is definitely reading/detecting the FW(1.61) in the drive. So yeah I'm pretty skrewed on my xbox now... I should have read in this website before Updating the drive today, I should have stayed on 1.6. I would suggest TO REMOVE ANYTHING that shows the Latest FW Versions 1.61 on BenQ, since I got banned by an actual Game Disc and not a burned copy. It would suck if I am the only one who has happened this issue.

I'm just guessing and maybe i'm just stating the obvious. But that console update from microsoft about two weeks ago most likely added some way for them to check the firmware of the drive and send a report back to them. I just checked my live connection yesterday to find my console had been banned. For those of you who haven't been banned yet i suggest you following the advice from the veterans of this site and the developers of iX. heres that advice.by picilo59 on Friday, November 13, 2009 (16:01:26) "It's recommended to wait for iXtreme LT (Lite Touch) before you play any more backups or originals on an unbanned console flashed with custom firmware."

I have one question about this new firmware.. the Lite Touch.... My XBOX is a lite on drive and it has already been banned from XBOX Live, now does that mean if I get this firmware installed on it when it comes out that I"ll be able to play online again or do I still need to buy a new XBOX? by AMeck on Sunday, November 15, 2009 (16:49:40)

No practically once your banned you have to buy a new box :/ sorry AMeckby cowlag on Monday, November 16, 2009 (15:10:59) hm... I updated to the 1.61 firmware on my BenQ and then ran the update on xbox live and have been playing online with no problems... But I am still going to wait for the new LT firmware (unless MS Some how figured out how to automatically ban if any firmware is changed or modified... then it won't matter...) (sorry to ask), but it would be nice if there was some progress notice or report on the development of the LT... Anyways sorry to ask, appreciate the hard work, thanks!

i just dont get it we are aloud a back up copy of every game you buy but to play ur back up copy you need a modded xbox so why is m/s banning modded xboxs when it states in every game you buy that we can copy a game for a back up in case ur real game gets broke or sumit this is stated in the back of the instruction book of any game for the xbox 360 i have checked in all my games and it still states it in the new cod game just dont get how that works by MUFFME on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 (04:13:12)

Are there some guidelines on how to be relatively safe while playing backup games? I know of two so far:by iKvothe on Friday, November 20, 2009 (14:29:35) 1. Don't flash your firmware 2. Don't play games before they're released in retail What about others? Like: --Does banning happen silently in the night? So would unplugging your console when not in use help? --Does banning only occur when playing online? Would playing offline-only keep you safe? --Is there any particular port or web address MS uses to open a 'keep alive' connection that could be blocked by a firewall?

just to let everyone know that i read on another modding site that your xbox can be flagged and banned just by flashing your xbox using the xbox as a power source and it linked to your pc. not my theory but someone elses. by maully217 on Tuesday, December 08, 2009 (17:40:38)
